Taster Session

Try before you enrol

Designed to give you an insight into the grooming salon and what pet grooming would be like as a career. You will be part of the salon team for the day, get hands-on experience in our bathing area and watch our stylist groom a dog to perfection. Important for seeing if you like our facilities and if we can offer you a space on one of our courses.

Apron will be supplied.

City & Guilds Level 2

Groomer's Assistant

Ideal if you want to begin working in the dog grooming industry and learn the skills to work under supervision in a salon. Covers a range of mandatory and optional units, with practical and theory assessments for the qualification.

  • Bathing and cleaning dogs
  • Controlling and restraining animals
  • Handling payments from clients
  • Recognition of health problems
  • Brushing, de-matting, bathing and basic clipping and trimming
  • Health and safety in the salon

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma

You must have already achieved your 7763-02 Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants to register for this course. Assessed through a synoptic assignment combining your practical skills and theory (taught on site and through home learning), plus one written assessment held twice a year — leading to your City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.

Kit & assessment

Equipment kit

You'll need all the equipment on our course kit list. You're welcome to purchase the full kit from us at a reduced price, or provide your own if it's of good quality and suitable to use on our client's pets. The full kit costs £736.32 — full details are sent to you upon enrolment.

Assessment

  • A written exam covering the knowledge and understanding within the qualification. Exams are held once in June and once in November.
  • A practical assignment covering health checks, first aid and grooming of dogs with different coat types and for different requirements.
  • Theory for all courses is done online via a website or mobile app with knowledge check assessments completed at home — leaving salon time for practical learning.
