Taster Session
This is designed to give you an insight into the grooming salon and what pet grooming would be like as a career. You will be part of the salon team for the day and will get hands on experience in our bathing area and witness our stylist groom a dog to perfection. This day is important to see if you like our facilities and if we can offer you a space on one of our courses.
Apron will be supplied.

Learn to Groom Your Pet Day
This grooming course is for pet owners who wish to learn how to groom their own dog of for people wishing to get a taster before committing to one of the longer courses.
On this course pet owners will be taught how to groom their pet from start to finish. For future students this course will give them an understanding of what the longer courses involve and a chance to see how the courses are carried out.
All students will be given notes as well as before and after pictures and all equipment and overalls will be supplied.

Groomers Assistant
This course will give students the chance to cover some of the basics of grooming.
This level is ideal if you want to begin working in the dog grooming industry and want to learn the skills you need to work under supervision in a dog grooming salon.
To earn this qualification, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units, including:

Bathing and cleaning dogs

Controlling and restraining animals

Handling payments from clients.

Recognition of health problems

Brushing, de-matting and bathing and some basic clipping and trimming

Health and safety in the salon

Ear cleaning, nail clipping

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma 7863-03
You must have already achieved your 7763-02 Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants to be able to register for this course.
The course structure is now assessed through a synoptic assignment during the course. This looks to combine all of your knowledge learnt during the course through both the practical skills and also the theory, which is taught both on site and through home learning. You are assessed on your practical skills, ensuring that you can maintain the health and safety of the animals and staff, plus also produce a fantastic groom and show the basics of understanding how a salon can be run. In addition to the synoptic assignment, you have one written assessment that will occur at two points during the year, allowing you to achieve your City and Guilds level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.

You are required to have all the equipment on our course kit list. You are welcome to purchase the full kit from us at a reduced price or provide your own if it is of good quality and suitable to use on our client’s pets. The full kit costs £736.32 and we will send you the full details upon enrolment.
The assessment for this qualification will require you to achieve:

A written exam which covers the knowledge and understanding within the qualification. The exams are only held once in June and once in November.

A practical assignment which covers health checks, first aid and grooming of dogs with different coat types and for different requirements.
